Marchers turn up the heat The People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) last night set in train the first large scale display of civil disobedience in the campaign to unseat Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra by leading a march from Sanam Luang to Government House.
Nearly 100,000 people started to march from the rally's designated location at 8.30pm towards the heart of Thaksin's administration. After initial police resistance, the demonstrators were allowed to march past Government House and return Sanam Luang where they would camp for the night.
Royal kin back move to appoint interim PM
Royal descendants of King Mongkut and King Chulalongkorn have joined a group of academics and prominent figures in petitioning His Majesty the King to appoint an acting prime minister.
"Royal Family members have expressed their concern over the current political situation," said MR Yongyuphalak Kasemsan, a political scientist formerly of Chulalong-korn University.

And this one: Thaksin's persona blown away by Shin sale
How did the opposition to Thaksin blow up so quickly and so dramatically? Only a few weeks ago, Thaksin announced that he would ignore politics for the next three years until another election approached. But now he's swamped by politics, with competitive street demos, a snap election, constitution amendments, fierce emotional exchanges and a game of blind political poker.
Have we learned anything new about Thaksin recently? Is that what has suddenly impelled people to call him a thief, liar, cheat, dictator and so on? http://www.nationmultimedia.com/2006/03/06/opinion/opinion_20002032.php
