Dear All, Warmest greetings! I am glad to announce that ARENA's bi-annual journal; Asian Exchange (AEX) - the first Double Issue for the year 2006, will soon be out now. Thanks to the hard work of everyone who has contributed in different ways, particularly to Mr. Kevin Li (Guest Editor of the Issue), Neng Magno (Guest Copy-Editor), as well as all the writers from Thailand, Bangladesh, Korea, Hong Kong, Malaysia, etc. Most of all, our appreciation goes to the Ex-Convenor of the KCL programme; also our Council Chair; Vinod Raina for his understanding and support, in allowing us to publish this issue of AEX as an output for the Knowledge, Culture and Livelihood Programme. Vinod's Concept Note for the Programme drafted in 2003 is also included in the book. We are equally thankful to Mohuddhin Ahmad, who has kindly agreed to help convene the KCL Programme since 2005 for his support and understanding too. Mohuiddhin has contributed a very substantial article related to the theme and this can be downloaded from our website at: www.arenalonline.org (under the KCL Programme Section). As agreed in early 2005 among the KCL programme team; this issue is co-published with a Malaysian Publisher and Printer, which ARENA has been relating with from years back. SIRD (Pte Ltd) based in Kuala Lumpur regularly purchases our publications. In order to save staff costs and time; this issue of AEX will be posted from Malaysia by our Co-Publisher. We have updated our Fellows list as well as subscribers and network partner lists. In case you have recently changed your mailing address, pls. kindly write to us immediately; to ensure that you will receive this 2006 issue in time. We also take individual and bulk orders for this issue. Pls. ask us for an electronic Invoice; so that we can process your order. This is the 3rd publication successfully completed since I joined ARENA in July 2005. A special complimentary (as an apology to our paying subscribers) issue of AEX on Nepal was published in Sept 2005 from Hong Kong. This was Co-Edited by Mukunda Katel and our Fellow, Arjun Karki. This issue has turned out to be most timely, given the recent developments in Nepal. Secondly, a colour-cover Communique was finally published in Korea in January 2006, edited by Jayanthi Kuru-Utumpala from Sri Lanka (our Intern); after a lapse of 2 years. Thirdly, our Korean Office Manager, Ms. Choi Soung ai has also very efficiently translated, reviewed and revised our very own ARENA Brochure, as well as ARENA's Publication List (updated to 2006!) from English to Korean. This was distributed at the Exchange of MOU Ceremony with the SungKongHoe University in Seoul, Korea on the 7th April 2006. Lastly, this upcoming July 2006 Issue of AEX will be in your mail box by August 2006. Your comments, criticisms and suggestions are most welcome! The second and last publication for this year will be another Double-Issue of AEX, edited by Anu Chenoy (our Fellow) based on the theme of War, Militarism and Peace (Human Security) - also one of ARENA's running programmes. A writers' workshop was organized with the support of Christian Aid (London), Action (Aid) Bangkok, Oxfam NOVIB and Inter-Pares (Canada); in Bangkok from May 26 - 29, 2006.
