Professor at the College of Social Work and Community Development of the University of the Philippines teaching Community Development and Women’s Studies, Maureen is also Executive Director and Board Member of the Women’s Legal Bureau, a network of women lawyers in the Philippines who provide legal services for poor women and training for community women and leaders on the issue of women’s rights and domestic violence.
Maureen continues to provide volunteer services to various local community and development organizations as a Fellow of the Community Based Coastal Resource Center in community organising and to the gender cluster of the Barangay Women’s Desks of Bagong Silang and Camarin in Caloocan.
She also acts as consultant to both government and NGO agencies on community development and gender projects, the most recent consultancy project being an evaluation of the National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women’s Institutional Strengthening Project.
