Professor in Development Studies, NGO and poverty in South Asia at the Graduate School of the Keisen University, Ohashi has been a member of the ARENA Executive Board since July 1997. He obtained his Masters degree on Professional Studies in Agriculture from the International Agriculture and Rural Development Program in Cornell University and has produced many publications, most of which are in Japanese. He is currently Chairperson of the Shapla Neer (Citizen¡¯s Committee in Japan for Overseas Supports), a Board Member of the Ayus (Buddhist Network for Overseas Supports) and Vice-Chairperson of the Group of Samanway for Child Education in India. A founding member of the Asian Peace Alliance (APA), he was an ex-Board member of SHARE (Services for the Health in Asia and African Regions) and his points of interests range from social development, South Asian issues and experiences, NGOs, social movements and the Japanese ODAs. He co-authored the publication South Asia through Connections with Japan with Iwasaki Shoten in 2003, the NGO and Human Security in ¡°Globalization and Human Security¡± (ed.) in 2001, the Katsumata (ed) in 2001, the ¡°Untouchables¡± and Education: Gandhians Land reform movement and Bhiyan People, 2001 and a program report on NGOs and CBOs in some Development Cases in Japan as part of the Asia Fellow Program 1999 Program Report, International House of Japan & the Japan Foundation. Ohashi was a member of the ARENA Executive Board 2000 -2003 and was re-elected
to the Executive Board 2003 -2006. |
