Professor at the College of Social
Work and Community Development of the University of the Philippines teaching
Community Development and WomenĄŻs Studies, at the graduate and undergraduate
levels. Maureen continues to provide volunteer services to various local community and development organizations doing reaserach and project/program evaluation work, trainings and advocacy work, and developing participatory development intervention strategies addressing poverty and powerlessness of communities. She is a Fellow of the Community Based Coastal Resource Center and is a volunteer and supporter of the Barangay WomenĄŻs Desks of Bagong Silang and Camarin in Caloocan. She also acts as consultant to both government and NGO agencies on community development and gender projects such as the the evaluation of the National Commission on the Role of Filipino WomenĄŻs Institutional Strengthening Project, the evaluation of a migrant workers federation, research and advocacy on urban environment management, research and advocacy on effective legal reform and response to marital failures, advocacy on peace and against militarization and the Visiting Forces agreement, CEDAW women's rights advocacy, etc. Maureen is, moreover, an animal rights and welfare advocate, very much enjoying the company of dogs among other species. |
