PAGADUAN Maureen

 Professor at the College of Social Work and Community Development of the University of the Philippines teaching Community Development and WomenĄŻs Studies, at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
She specifically handles courses in organizing and mobilization, cultural politics and social movements, and community-based strategies for women's and community empowerment. Maureen is also a Management Trustee and Treasurer of the Board of the WomenĄŻs Legal Bureau, a non-government organization, working on women's rights concerns including laws and the legal system, rights advocacy work, women's rights, legal and paralegal trainings, VAWC researches and case services, organizing and mobilizing work among poor women in the community
and other professionals.

 Maureen continues to provide volunteer services to various local community and development organizations doing reaserach and project/program evaluation work, trainings and advocacy work, and developing participatory development intervention strategies addressing poverty and powerlessness of communities. She is a Fellow of the Community Based Coastal Resource Center and is a volunteer and supporter of the Barangay WomenĄŻs Desks of Bagong Silang and Camarin in Caloocan. She also acts as consultant to both government and NGO agencies on community development and gender projects such as the the evaluation of the National Commission on the Role of Filipino WomenĄŻs Institutional Strengthening Project, the evaluation of a migrant workers federation, research and advocacy on urban environment management, research and advocacy on effective legal reform and response to marital failures, advocacy on peace and against militarization and the Visiting Forces agreement,  CEDAW women's rights advocacy, etc.

 Maureen is, moreover, an animal rights and welfare advocate, very much enjoying the company of dogs among other species.
